Ballet amongst the Roses – a styled shoot

One night, at around 22h00, I had this idea. A friend of mine told me she would be in Cape Town for a few weeks, and she’s a dancer.  I’ve photographed her before, and always said that if I had the chance, I’d organise another shoot with her.  I knew that this was the perfect opportunity, and sent Rene a message (expecting her to reply to me the next day sometime). Little did I know, Rene was awake and replied within minutes that she had been thinking about doing a photoshoot with dancers too, but hadn’t organised anything. By the next morning, we had an amazing creative team together and the shoot was on.  To top it all off, Mooi Troues agreed to feature the shoot on their blog!

Rene from Rene H Couture was the obvious choice to provide the dresses because she specialises in custom dresses with gorgeous lace detail and the most amazing flowing skirts – I knew that they would compliment the dancers perfectly.  She immediately offered three different dresses, and even knew another dancer who would be able to join us.

The team from Joli did the most amazing job with the decor.  I believe in showing vendors an inspiration board and then just trusting them to do their thing.  Well, Joli took my inspiration board and improved it.  I can’t compliment them enough.

Claire from Bella Chiara Bridal Accessories had the perfect veils and headpieces to compliment Rene’s dresses. She works with her brides to create the perfect piece for their special day.

Antoinette blew me away with her hair and makeup skills. Including a few hair changes for Genevieve between dress changes – highly highly recommend her!

Sune from Adam and Eve Wedding Studio took the ballet theme and ran with it for the stationery as well – perfectly suited to the theme as always.

Lianne from BillyBoos Cakery took my inspiration and improved it 10 fold.  Her croquembouche and macarons were to die for.  And I got to eat the left over yummies! Pop in to her cafe in Obs and see for yourself.

D’Aria was the perfect choice in location with beautiful rose bushes and lovely forest area perfect to showcase the dancers abilities!

But that’s enough about the amazing creative team – let the photos speak for themselves!
