Cape Town Urban Engagement – Lyndsay & Kyle

I have been dying to photograph a couple in the middle of Cape Town. With its eclectic blend of modern skyscrapers alongside historic buildings it reminds us of the past and inspires us with what’s to come. This tied in so beautifully with an engagement shoot where Lyndsay and Kyle could celebrate everything that has brought them to this moment whilst preparing for their wedding and future together. When I suggested the idea to Lyndsay & Kyle, they were just as excited about the idea as I was. We decided that sunset on a Sunday would be the best time to get some gorgeous light, and quiet streets, and we were blessed with exactly that.

We wandered around central Cape Town using its diverse architecture as backdrop. I framed each photograph using everything from the stone arches and rounded pillars of historic sites to the geometric lines of modern buildings.

Lyndsay scheduled her hair and makeup trial to be on the same day as the engagement shoot, and her outfit reflected all the colours of their wedding scheme. Kyle looked relaxed with his signature beard and man bun.

We had so much fun with all the different poses which represented their playful and earnest love for each other. They were such naturals it was hardly any work at all.

I love the way that these turned out – something a little different, and so many more possibilities available for next time!
