Engaged – now what?
He’s just asked a question that has changed your life. Those 4 little words – “will you marry me?”… now what?
Planning a wedding is daunting! You’ve never done this before, where do you even begin? Personally, I’d start with some bubbly! Enjoy a week or two of being newly engaged and getting used to wearing a carefully thought out piece of jewellery. Celebrate with family and friends. Take a few selfies!
Then there are a few things to decide that really make the rest of the planning process much easier:
- How many guests you want to invite
- What sort of wedding you want to have (formal/relaxed/wine estate/beach/forest/etc)
- What time of year (and then finally an exact date) you want to get married
Once you’ve got those three things pegged down, then it’s a case of finding the vendors you love (and share your vision for the day) and letting them do their thing! If you’re not sure, have a look at some wedding blogs – some of my favourites are:
I’d highly recommend starting with you photographer (you can drop me a line on katie@katiemayhewphotography.co.za or via my contact form), your decor company/florist, a dressmaker (if you’re having the dress made), and your caterer (including the cake). I’ve got a list of my favourite vendors and their contact details I’ll be happy to send to you
If you’re a little nervous about being in front of a camera, book an engagement shoot (it’s also a great way to see how photographers work, and whether you would be happy spending a lot of your wedding day with them!)
