I am so excited that I can finally share this shoot! When I met with Lydia & Gordon, they asked if we could somehow photograph their engagement shoot at a theme park – they both absolutely loved the idea of being surrounded by bright colours and lots of fun. We brainstormed a little, and quickly realised that the only option in Cape Town was to do the shoot at Ratanga Junction.  It did mean waiting a little bit before doing the shoot, as we had to wait for the school holidays, but it was worth the extra effort.

We ended up wandering around the park taking pictures in all sorts of nooks and crannies, and posing in front of the big, bright rides. I even asked them to have some fun on the rides while I took a few pictures of them – they were game for just about anything!

I always like to take a close up of the ring (of course), and when we were looking around for something to place it on, Jessica was still eating the ice cream we had used for a few shots a little earlier. We looked at one another, smiled, and decided to take the photo of the ring, in the ice cream cone! The look on Gordon’s face was priceless, but he soon came around to the idea (spoiler alert – it was totally worth it!)
